Hofland Flowering Plants
Hofland Flowering Plants: a company history extending across four generations!
Jan Hofland established the company in 1899 and, a little later, his son Goos joined him. Goos Hofland senior inherited the company in 1928 and started growing cacti.
Frans Hofland, Goos’s son, continued with the cacti when he took over in 1960, widening the remit to specialise in the Schlumbergera, better known as Christmas cactus. Frans’s sons were introduced into the fold in 1980, which means the business is now run by a fourth generation.
Hofland Flowering Plants is recognised as one of the best Schlumbergera nurseries in the Netherlands. As well as their Christmas treat they also produce stem Hibiscus.
