Gebr. Valstar

The foundations of Gebr. Valstar BV were laid in 1978, when founder Jac. Valstar started growing Marantaceae in Honselersdijk. The Valstar brothers (Oscar and Jörgen) are located in Maasland (chief location), Roosendaal and Brazil. They grow the Calathea on approximately 100,000 m2.
Gebr. Valstar supplies the Calathea, whilst continuously developing further breeding and propagation. They regularly visit Brazil trawling for new varieties of this highly decorative plant. These plants are native to the rainforests. There are around 60 varieties of the Calathea currently known.
How many there are is of course unknown, but what is certain is that every 'Calathea expedition' promises a new selection of attractive commercial varieties. We are always curious to discover what they will return with next!
