The Gentiana, known in the Netherlands as Gentiaan, belongs to the Gentianaceae genus. The plant has blue flowers which bloom from around July through August. A plant from the Alps, the Gentiana is suitable for a south facing garden, it desires a sunny spot where the soil is not too poor. It can also be combined with ‘rock plants’, provided the soil is not too dry.
