Nephrolepis is the Latin name for this well known fern. The variety of ferns is wide and extensive and each has its own distinct leaf shape, character, colour and volume. There are curly ferns for example, with the leaf unfurling from a tight curl. Once unfolded, the plant proudly shows its bright green, lush, deeply cut leaves. If you let ferns hang down or place them slightly higher, the leaves will spread out to showcase their full beauty. It would be no exaggeration to describe ferns as the ‘sensational green act’. The plants were discovered in the (sub)tropical regions of South East Asia and South America, which explains their penchant for high humidity levels. And all this is advantageous for you too, as they create humidity, ensuring your interior spaces do not encourage irritated eyes, headaches or dry skin. And as if this was not enough, ferns also purify the air. A fern in the home is the healthy option!
