Originally, Eucomis comes from the wetter regions of the mountains in southern Africa. The flower is composed of many tiny florets. On the top of the stem and the flowers sits a crown of young green leaves, from which the plant gains its common name of pineapple lily.
Place the plant in a sunny spot in a border with normal and moist soil, and it will reward you with its eccentric and cheerful flower spikes. The flower produces generous amounts of nectar and attracts many bees and butterflies. With its decorative leaves, subtle colours and lovely shapes, Eucomis suits every garden!
